About the Artist
Originally from Pune, India and now residing in the city of Ottawa, Dhanashri Athavale is an emerging artist on Ottawa’s Art scene. A graduate in the Applied Arts field, Dhanashri worked as a freelance designer in India before she came to Canada. As a professional artist, Dhanashri has exhibited in several group shows and has four successful solo shows to her credit. She is an active member of many art societies of Ottawa and has been participating regularly in their juried and group shows.
Dhanashri primarily paints in water colours. She believes that the versatility of this medium enables the portrayal of her perceptions of nature. Dhanashri loves to focus on the elements in nature, which energize the environment and evoke feelings of bliss. Her goal is to convey these emotions and have a visual dialogue through her paintings.
